  • Blank V-Ray frame buffer (V-ray for rhino 7)

    I have a strange problem...

I use V-Ray for Rhino 7 on a Dell XPS 15 laptop. Recently when I've tried to render, the asset editor says it is rendering but I can see on another window it is 'rendering out' but as a white blank screen, and if I try to click on it, nothing shows (the v-ray buffer screen). The lighting is correct and nothing is blocking the camera. However, when I plug my laptop into a monitor, it renders fine, which makes me think there's something wrong with the display(s) settings, but I haven't figured out how to fix this. Any advice would be great thanks.

Dear lucy_ayres - welcome to Chaos Forums!

The described does not sound related to Cloud rendering, that's why I will move this thread to V-Ray for Rhino :: Issues section.

Please define is the white blank screen shown as a minimized window when you go to Rhino icon on Windows Taskbar or not?
If that is so, right-clicking over it and choosing Maximize will open for you the V-Ray Frame Buffer.
Just sharing how it sounds like after reading your explanation.

Please share with us some extra details in order to be more helpful:
    • exact V-Ray for Rhino version (screenshot from V-Ray > Help > About V-Ray)
    • screenshots/video showing the issue
    • how often does it happen
    Waiting for your answer.

    Best regards,
    TS

      Hi, thanks for your reply.

The white screen is shown as a minimized window when I go on the Rhino icon. This happens every time I try and render (without my monitor). I tried this with a very simple model, please see the pictures below:

This is the current V-Ray version I have for Rhino (up to date):

        Thank you!

Please try the already described steps:
        1. Go to the minimized window
        2. Right-click over it and choose Maximize

Do you now see the V-Ray Frame Buffer with the render result?

And share with us how often does this happen.

Hi, thank you this seems to be working now - it's just slower than it was before.

I'll get in touch if the issue returns!

          Thanks so much

            You are welcome.

Write back if needed, yes - we have met this randomly, that's why I was asking about frequency.

Enjoy your work now with V-Ray!
