    Hey,
these are some test renders straight out of V-Ray, no post involved apart from some slight exposure and contrast corrections inside the VFB. The lens effects turned out pretty nice on this one. Rendertime around 40mins in 4K on CPU. Please make sure to watch in high-res. Crits and comments welcome.

    Regards

    Oliver

Some of the best CGI cars i ve seen to date!
Amazing work - i wish i had something like that to play with. Did you model it completely yourself?

The only thing that i have noticed, on the first image - back left wheel - break disc - the material seems to have some strange bumps instead of radial lines - i havent sen the referece imagery of course.
But hey this is just nit picking

You are right, it is a carbon ceramic brake on this one, not the usual steel rotor with circular grooves: https://goo.gl/images/cSbtRs
The dataset was delivered as Catia file from BMW.

Great work. Not sure who walks into the dealership and orders a `brown` BMW though.

Well if I was offered a new car for free I wouldn`t question the colour, but personally I`d prefer something a bit bolder. Shiny red or maybe black so I don`t have to wash it much.

Black? I have a black car, and oh boy do I have to wash it often... It's the dust in the air. Put it the clean car outside for a day in a rural arear, and next morning you will have a layer of dust on it.

great materials and renderings ... but seems like the tires are not perfectly on the ground ... in the first shot ?

Well, it is not the position of the tyres on the ground as such. I am currently looking for ways to deform the tyre where it touches the ground, it has to flatten and bulge a little. Problem is that it also has to work for an animated wheel in rotation...
