  • Trimmed Hedge

I am working on this hedge and I wanted to get your thoughts on how it looks so far,

Done with particle array and modeled trunk and branches.

    Looking very nice tony,
might be worth adding more leaves behind the exsiting ones to make it less see-thru.or beef up the branches.

Thanks jow. Thats why I used particle array, I can adjust the number of leaves very simply without having to model it again. This is real nice for a scene that has a lot of hedges close up and you don't want them all to look the same.

Here's one with more leaves added.

Sure, here is the file, sorry MAX8 only.

To adjust the number of leaves just change the number in the particle generation rollout (use total) The animation needs to be set at 100.

I modeled the leaves for close up shots but just replace the leaf with a simplier one if it's to large a file. The leaf is fairly simple however.

You can convert the Parray to a mesh by apply snapshot with mesh selected. Then just hide the Parray for later changes and merge the mesh.

I posted a quick tutorial and the file in the Tutorial Section if anyone is interested.

That looks really effective. Keep meaning to play around with particles a bit more, and your tutorial makes them seem less daunting than I always imagine. Thanks very much for sharing your approach and the max file.
