  • Samsung "Z5"

    These 5 prints were created for the launch of Samsung's new Z5 MP3 player. The prints were created as poster-sized images and published throughout Canada in bus stops, subway stations, and billboards.

    There were also animated sequences produced for the campaign but I was not involved in these.

    Currently, the prints are also featured on Samsung's Z5 website which can be found by clicking here.

    (Product test and lighting render - unpublished)

    These renders were produced with 3dsmax 6.0, rendered with VRay 1.47.03 and composited with Photoshop.

    Prints directed by Richard Rosenman.
    Prints modeled by Ben Pilgrim.
    Prints posed by Kyle Dunlevy.
    Prints textured, lit, rendered and composited by Richard Rosenman.

      Excellent work, materials are really great - not a bad looking mp3 player too.

        great work Richard!!!

        May I ask what the front material consists of... the one with the scratched/brushed look.
        It look spot on, and would love to be able to re-create a similar material myself.

                Hey guys;

                The brushed material is an actual scan of the product.

                Usually, this does not yield good results because the scanner light blows out everything, especially with reflective surfaces, and I've usually had to spray-paint such objects matte white. However, this one scanned beautifully, and then proper bump maps, reflection maps, etc, where derived from the original source scan.

                The good 'ol Uffizi.hdr map was used for the reflections - a perfect hdr since it's practically colorless.

                I'm personally not very satisfied with the brushed steel - it still looks a bit matte but the deadline was pretty tight on this one and the renders quite large.
