good tests!
in the 1st phe outside prespective doesn t match...on the last it seems to me as there is not enough bounces....and outside light contribution is missing....
above all the last image looks too flat, as the color of the light is way too whitish, were it should be really colourfull....orange from bulb lights, blue/violet from outside white/greenish/blueish from fluorescent lamps....

great test! these images look fantastic.overall i think the images look a little grainy though...?
the first ones lighting is really great, matches the best to its background i think, although the perspective does seems off... i would actually like to see how it looks with the shadows a little sharper, and maybe a little more contrast. other than that awsome!
i also think the second image needs more contrast and definitely a more oragish sun glowing through, i really like that background and it doesnt seem bright enouph near that window.
the third also has really nice lighting, but the shadows seem a bit too sharp. and i agree that the outside is missing some light contribution, and color in those lights.... but a clean images!!!Darren Butler

thanks everyone for your comments - it was an interesting exercise for me investigating the different intensities to light a room. all three images also have no panel lights at the windows (something i had always done upto now) just a direct light for the sun and different intensities on the skylight. i'm pretty pleased with the results as the images rendered faster and were cleaner in terms of noise for what are relatively low settings. if i remember correctly they were all about 15mins (maybe a bit longer for the night time which used photometric lights) including the LC calc and 3 passes on the IRR map.
Thanks
Steve

for the daytime shot i think the sun was set to 3 and the skylight between 5&6. as to the lwf - no, exponential on all three.

I've used photometric point lights, changed them to web and added a ies file to the light. the shadows are vray
i downloaded a lot of ies files from the following location which you may want to take a look at:-
