  • Bokeh Test

For those of you who didnt know or notice, the new VrayCamera has a proper Bokeh function

Here are 2 basic tests I did to show off the affect.

    http://www.apex.net.au/~daforce/vray...est/bokeh2.avi

    http://www.apex.net.au/~daforce/vray...est/bokeh3.avi

Certainly nothing fancy but cool none the less.

      Certainly

Well first of all you need to use a VrayPhysicalCamera, and then you need to enable DOF and BOKEH (by ticking Blades) in the camera rollout.

The its a matter of setting up the camera accordingly and in my render i just animated the focus distance getting closer and closer to the camera.

      Thats it basically.

I can share the scenes if you would like.

Tested it too. Found it damn slow for my x64 3200
I just can't seem to trust myself
So what chance does that leave, for anyone else?

heheh yeah DOF certainly aint the quickest thing in vray
But the bokeh doesnt really add any extra render time compared to the same render with just DOF. So if you are using vray DOF there is no reason not to enable bokeh as well

Heheh also sounds like your about due for an upgrade

BTW - do you know any plugs making z-buffer based dof inside Fusion ?

No it doesn't. Their defocus is not a DOF. It's just blurs image with no respect to focus and etc...

                        Well I'm sure 100%
This image - I captured yours and "defocused" it. A friend of mine bought this... It doesn't have any options, to use z-buffer. Or maybe I didn't find 'em

About am2 - don't want to buy new motherboard/memory (ddr2 at least 8xx), and it's slightly slower than socket 939. The only reason why I should (maybe) - is K8L next year. Maybe... But for now hight priority is brand new videocard. Smth from ATI like r600, which should be announced late this year. DirectX10 - have you seen Unreal Tournament 2007 or FarCry Crysis ?! New generation, like Conroe for Intel My card now is x800 pro.
