  • Night House Exterior

Guys, this is my recent WIP project...
something from this image hasn't 'click' yet... i still feel 'unfinished', but can't figure out which...

i hope anyone here can suggest anything?

still using low render setting. I'm using LWF with gamma correction method

(man, i forgot to turn those garden vraylight invisible )

    Regards

Good composition, I like the landscaping especially the two palms on the right. The house seems kinda flat though. Even if the material is stucco it should have alittle texture to it, I think...
Also the outdoor lighting placement is good but some lights seem too harsh maybe a softer lights. Maybe just a hint of some sky in the background for depth.

Yeah, a little moonlight would probably help your roof texture show up also.

          Great Alex,

lets wait to see final result

My comments is to roof (probably in progress) and this too saturated green of shurbs...

Good job as your 'pool spa'

            thanks for the comments guys!

yep, the roof is still flat plane... I'm gonna try to put some displacement there & light it a bit

since working with lwf method, i kinda miss those dark corners & shadows

i'll post some updates later this day

            regards

                pls disregard my previous post

i think this one is better, and no photoshop mambojumbo, just small exposure+gamma adjustment

using linear now and saving to HDR
is there any way to rid those dark edges around bright areas?

Yep - do not use a sharpening AA filter (e.g. Catmull-Clark). The effect of these filters is to do a slight inversion of the colors near edges. This is ok for areas of similar intensity, but if one side of the edge is too bright, the other is pushed way down and becomes black. You can try the Blackman filter or maybe Mitchell-Netravali and see if it works better.

                    Best regards,
                    Vlado

thanks LucidV, vraysun/sky saves the day

but still curious for the night scene... never done it right...

Vlado, I'm using Adaptive QMC (1,4) and mitchell-netravali. Clamp output is off (I want to keep it in floating point).... is there something i missed?

In that case, you play with the Ringing value of the Mit-Net filter and see if it makes things any better.

                          good improvement, well done.

My eye goes right to the cars in the garage. I would recompose your image so it's emphasis isnt so much on the ugliest aspect of any house.

i didn't realize that before would u think closing the garage door make it better?

anyway, i've already sent the pics to the client.
