Something I was working on yesterday for a television ID pitch. The power of HDRI. I didn't use any lights for this - it was a little tricky getting seperation between the front and back of the object - in the end I used a reflection blocker to make the front pop a little. If anybody has idea's on how you combine high contrast reflective objects ( using HDRI in enviroment map ) and Vray lights to create depth through shadows - I'm all ears, it never seems to work for me.
It was a really quick turn around - the materials aren't really anything special. I used Vray proxies for the duplicate objects - had lots of problems seeing them in the viewports but they really keep the file size down.
I did a tiny bit of Photoshop on the first image to blur a nasty reflection from the HDRI map - you see the mapping seam as I rotated the HDRI.
This is my first image post - usually my stuff in under NDA - but since nobody mentioned that - I suppose I can slip it in. Hope you like it.
I was really happy with how these turned out.
