Fantastic rendering. Can you give me any clues to how you got the leather material so good....Ive been trying to get my office chair leather material to look realistic, but the bump reflection never looks great.

unfortunately I don't have the file at hand at the moment (it's on a backup drive which is out of our network), so I can't show you any screenshot of the mat.
off the top of my head I don't remember the exact settings, but I think it was a vray blend mat with very strong, rough fresnel reflections. I used a hand painted specular map in the falloff's "side" slot, and pretty much no bump at all.
the coat level was probably just a hint, it had the same spec map but it was a bit more glossy. I guess.

to me the key for these kind of shots it's you lock the camera first, and then you start tweaking your material's reflections and maps strength and whatnot after that. going from a camera position to another may need different tweaks, so I very seldom consider a material done just looking at it in the mat editor.
so I guess at the end of the day it really depends on your specific scenes and setups, but I'll definitely post some settings when I can open the file again

well, it's been a while but eventually I got the file back. and it turned out the material it's much simpler than I remembered: no blend, no diffuse, no bump.. just a specular map and glossy reflections (0,72 in this case).

                        here's a screengrab:

and the map looks like this:

and you keep hearing people saying you have to fiddle with a bunch of sliders and buttons to get what you need out of vray
