    Hi folks,

Some old residential images from the last year. Images were for billboard and display suite. Resolution 8000/6000, Vray 1.5 RC (I think?), mostly default settings, rendered as a vrimg file.
Noise in blow-up regions is artificially introduced for dithering purposes to avoid some banding due to high resolution and low gradients.

    Thanks for viewing
    Z.

The dusk shot is really impressive. Only word I can think about is "solid". The other ones however are a bit off, I think, mostly the vegetation, and especially the grass on the crop. Too specular, too much contrast, but I can't grasp what is bothering me about them.

    best regards,

    A.

zoranm - 8000x6000 - wow that is massive? Did you do this in one pass or multiple stitches? I find I have bitmap errors, related to memory, I assume, whenever I get up to about 7500 pix wide.

Practically, I can't see anyone needing an image that size? Billboards are viewed from quite a distance away. On a billboard that is 20' wide that is just over 30dpi. I'm wondering whether you would be able to tell the difference between 30 dpi and 10 dpi when viewing the whole image??

      BTW - nice images

I have done a few billboards lately and have had this discussion, at nauseum, with some of the architects in the office. My point is mainly based on the fact I find it extremely difficult to render that size of an image, both in memory error and render times. I would, however, like to have a difinitive answer to whether the 30 dpi vs 10 dpi is really as I suspect. Thanks.

      Regards Peter.

            Thanks guys for your comments

Aldaryn: I know what's bothering you-the same thing that's bothering me: lack of rendomnes, couple of dry leaves, dirt etc. I had time to do only a quick parray for the hedge and I should've doen at least three. As archinedes'd say: time is short, craft is hard!!

pshupe68: As i mention above I rendered these as a vrimg file. Mine was crashing too as a normal vray render and it's not releted to memory because I have 8 Gb in my computer. As for resolution it's simple- what looks good is good enough for me. These images were displayed right behind the sales person so the marketing people asked me to do them as sharp as possible. I used the same images for the 5x3m billboard and they were printed at 40dpi.
Do a search on the internet. There was a site which had a little applet where you enter the viewing distance and it outputs the correct printing resolution.

            Da_elf: It's a displacement map I made in photoshop

            Regards

            Z.

I do however, think that your tree and bush leaves are a little too shiny
