  • Austrian Countryside

Here are some images of a composer/musician's house in the countryside overlooking Vienna. The common living areas are all on the second floor to take advantage of the views.

Architecture by Johann Lettner, Vienna Austria

The visualization work was a joint effort here, so I can't take credit for all of it. All done in 3DS Max, Vray (sun+sky and physical cameras), and Photsohop.

      Very nice work!!

Interiors are a little oversaturated for my taste tho.

      Great grass.

Thanks Da Force, we're all quite happy with how these images came out. I hear you on the saturation, it's a bit hyped up, but I do like the look of it a lot.

This project was a longer-term, back-burner job for us in 2007, so we used it as a scene to test out a lot things. Derik can correct me if I'm wrong, but this was our first use of both v-ray sun and sky, vray physical camera exposure, and a linear workflow.

very nice job! I really love the exteriors. Except the Cars :P Esp in the last exterior the car looks really dull and has a weird light gray in the grill. Thumbs up for the rest!

Great work and nice villa! My only critic would be that the view in the interiors should've been a bit more exposed, but its a nice view so I can understand why you didn't.

nice! especially the exteriors... the grass is probably the best ive seen! Just vray displacement?

                  Thanks for all the comments.

Skogskalle, the grass is vray displacement, with photos of real grass multiplied on top in photoshop. The lawnmower lines are part of the material, so it follows the terrain in 3d.

I really like the exteriors and the stone material with the reinforcing holding it back is very cool (i think the drirveway image is the best). The overall lighting on these is great as well in my opinion because you have retained a bit of contrast and some shadows from trees really help. the lining looks a bit mottled though to me - is that a material setting?

For the interiors, I think it has a slight flouro look and saturation is a bit much but like you said, its a personal choice. I think maybe trying out some camera angles with camera correction would produce some more nice images - the upstairs image with a steep perspective looking down towards the balcony freaks me out a bit!

                    Really nice job overall!

its very nice over all. im not sure its too saturated or there is just too much red in the wood floor giving it that feel.

Wow, excellent renders! They look great to me. Really nice contrast.

I'm curious how you set up the interior shots so that the exterior was perfectly exposed and not way over bright. Did you render it like that or was it tweaked in Photoshop?

                            Keep up the good work.

I have a question about the helicopter shots in the West End animations. Were they shot with an RC copter or a real one? Or a balloon?
