  • Particle fun!

Had a few hours free a while back and decided to make a new desktop background.

250k sphere particles, white glossy refractive material, some coloured lights and motion blur. Did a bit of photoshop to tidy it up/bring out the colours more too.

Yeah, it was done in the render settings and with a standard cam though.

Really cool. Can you post a screen shot of the particle path? I'm confused on how this was created. I haven't played with particles in years. Thanks

I was going to... but I actually cant find the scene
I think I may have simply not saved it.

It wasnt too complicated though - the camera is loooking straight down, the particles are being emitted at the bottom over time, sucked into a vortex and span around while being pushed up by negative gravity, and then there is a wind affecting it with the turbulence set up to look like a gentle summers breeze.

The render times were absolutley horrible. haha.

I'm thinking of having another go at something similar. I want to do a few different shots of particles moving like this and edit it to music...
Been playing around linking volumes of audio tracks to expressions, it's way cool. Especially cutting a track down into just the bass/mid/high and having 3 things do it.
