  • Black & White Kitchen

This is a project done at the end of 2008. I wanted to show that Ikea can build really high designed kitchen with its own cabinets and furnitures.

The black & white effect is created direclty in Vray, playing with textures (but I never use greyscale or unsaturated textures) and shaders.

    The setup is
    - Vray Physical Cam
    - Vray Sky + Vraylights with Skylight Portal

The DOF is direclty from VRay, and it could be too much, but these images are part of serie of one main image + 4 detail with really high DOF.

As usually 3d Studio Max + Vray 1.5 + some postproduction with Photoshop CS3.

If you got some problems to see the image, I will upload the on Imageshack or similar.

This is stunning! Could you give us a sense of the scene's size, polywise? You must have insane render settings for such a smooth image?

fantastic work. only crit from me is that the corners of your brick walls are too sharp and lacking variety.

The bricks are panel-formed concrete... I think.... But the wall is a bit sharp indeed...

Thanks guys! About the wall, it's a panel-formed concrete, but I agree that it's a little bit too sharp and probably I had to create some imperfections on the corners!

Peter Guthrie has a nice tut on his blog about how to easily create imperfections on concrete wall corners using noise and VrayEdgeTex...

Since it was an old project I wrote something uncorect on the first page. The setup it wasn't with the vray Sky but with different Vray lights as you can see in the screenshot.

I also used a VrayPhysical camera without the exposure but with the DOF on!

                            Really really sorry about it!

                            Also a wire screenshot!
