  • Burning down the house

On my free time I'm doing this viz of the fire at the royal castle of stockholm in 1697.

Still a long way to go on the model and simulation but it's a process and I explore PhoenixFD as I go.Click image for larger version

      testing

lot's of pyramids rising these days
So I made a quick test to see how much work I'd have to spend on making a version using PhoenixFD.

My home PC i soo slooooow.
I messed around with some settings during rendering so there are some inconsistencies in quality. My home PC is a I7 2.7 Ghz with 12Gb ram so it's not really made for this kind of play

It's really short so don't wink!

looks promising but too short. on i7 2.7 GHz you can create such videos with no problem. make the dof in post, not rendertime, use subdivision 1 of the sun, don't use gi.

The settings are from the ship scene that ships With Phoenix FD.
I have 8 seconds/frame in the beginning. When the shit hit's the fan at the end I get 60 mminutes /frame.
I actually exluded the sun from the reflextions and I inserted a Vray light that only reflect. There is no GI
Dof is in post and the time scale effect. and there is no motion blur. Probably a rendersetting. I'll delete my setup and lower the subdivs on the sun and see what happens.
By buckets get stuck on the particles/atmosphere. I lowerd the bucketsize and gained some minutes.

              Haha! Alot, Foam 43 102 796 at frame 140
              Spashes 10 846 087
The sim grinds to a halt

I'm not at my station all the time so I answer as soon as I can.
