Hi,
i am still V-Ray beginner. This is my 4th project (previous 3 projects were quite simple, this is my first complex render).
Rendering times on some pictures may seem pretty high and widely varying but there?s a couple of things to consider:
1. I used 4 computers to render and some are relatively slow
2. There?s very high antialiasing on some pictures (min 2, max3)
3. I still can?t set options quite effectively so maybe some options are unnecessarily high
4. There?s a lot of surfaces with glossy reflection (the whole ceiling, construction stuff, chair legs etc)
5. There?s 91 area light sources in the scene
6. The scenes have about 2 millions polys. Everything is modeled very precisely in 3D, no clipmap cheating.
I used Irradiance map for first GI bounce and Light cache for secoundary bounces.
This is real world commercial project that shows strenght and maturity of V-Ray for Rhino. Big thanks to guys from ASGVis for their hard work. Great thing is that V-Ray is not standalone but embeded in Rhino. Other than material loss (which I was facing very, very often) everything else worked just fine.
Please tell me what do you think. More images will follow (maybe some pure white GI close-ups, too).
Credists: architecture Archstudio s.r.o., modeling & visualization Dimensio s.r.o. (me)
