    1. st of all I have to congratulate you (ASGvis) for a fantastic product you are putting in our hands, thank you. I?m really pleased with the results and the easy learning curve.

    Well I?m just a new-b in vray, please comment these images and the render times. I have problem getting rid of the jagged round shape? Even I have the render mesh on smooth...

    This image is rendered with caustics enabled



    This image is rendered with caustics disabled



    I can?t really see the difference, but the render time is the x2

    Some tests

    You will need custom mesh settings to get rid of the jagged mesh, this is a rhino thing, not vray.

    That image should be rendered in less than 5 minutes. Only enable caustics (in the caustics rollout) if you want really sharp patterns, which will not be the case with spheres. So you're better off with GI caustics here, which you probably have enabled in your second render. That's why you don't see much difference, the second image also has caustics Your scene setup isn't ideal for seeing caustics though. Caustics are nothing more than refracted or reflected light, forming patterns if your object has a more complex shape.

    If you want, post the scene and we can try to render it quicker, then you can inspect the settings.

      I know it?s a rhino thing; I never used rhino for rendering before... just modeling. So I?m not so much in to the render settings. Do you have a mesh setting you can recommend!

      By the way I have been learning a lot from your site. Thanks. Have you considered doing some thing like the max version for Rhino?

        I usually set all mesh settings to 0 except max dist edge to surface. Set that as high as you can without seeing those jagged edges.

        Might not be the most efficient method, but it is easy and works fine.

          I just can't seem to trust myself

            I do this too. I also set min edge length to something, so that rhino will not create extremely small triangles. On some scenes I also use the max edge length, that clears up ghost triangles usually and prevents extremely long polygons. You could also use the aspect setting for this. Actually the max dist edg to srf is the most efficient setting of all. The angle setting is really bad in almost every scene, it creates very inefficient meshes imo.

              This is what I have managed by my own and reduced the render time. I would love to see what it could be like fully optimized.
