Since it got a bit quite at the forum, i decidet to post a picture i recently did with vray4rhino. Original size was 1850x1000 and it cooked for about 7 hours, using the "vlado" technique

and for testing purposes an exagerated DOF

some colour adjustments and vignetting in PS

Beautiful work. Very nice mix of model look and real world lighting.

Got3D people? And the tree? Looks so fine. I would like to know, how you get this nice tree.

Nice Sun color and overall warm mood. Maybe I would suggest a bit darker glass with higher contrast in reflections. In reality windows are almost black, small example is here or here. The only exception is white curtain right behind the window lit by the Sun or direct reflection of bright sky (or strong artificial light inside the building, of course).

        Hello Pif

yes, I know, I know, let me tell you the usual story :

Andy: Hello client, here is your picture...

Client (Architect): MMMhhh... nice but the windows are so dark, i cannot see anything inside, make them more transparent

Andy: well it a daylight scene, that`s how they are supposed to look, since the sunlight is magnitudes lighter than the artificial light...

Client: I don`t care make them brighter.

Andy: Ok, I will put some 50000 W fillights in there.

        Client : Great !

well, thank you the tree is actually self made with the evaluation version of xfrog ...

          http://www.xfrogdownloads.com/greenw...oductStart.htm

... and it is only a lowpoly version of the original one. Xfrog is quite nice, and i am really thinking about purchasing, especially since it is possible to create trees with geometrie leaves which perform a lot better under vray than opacity mapped ones. People are from AXYZ.

          best regards

vcube: does xfrog generate also leaf bitmaps that would work in Rhino? Or are geomeric leafs texturable (I mean is it simple polygon with UV coords or NURBS plane?)

Xfrog will output uv coords for the leaves, e.g. via 3ds export, and you can apply and scale your leave bitmap inside xfrog to fit it right to your leaf geometry. After importing the 3ds file into Rhino, you can simply reassign the leaf texture to the leaf polys.

XFrog - ohh, I have the feeling, rhino dosn't like high poly trees. I have tested the free trees from the TU Dresden and was not happy. Rhino was strong slow down. Do you know the free trees?

yes, i know them, they are nice, but polygonwise they are of course oversized. But in general xfrog offers you quite a lot of control over the amount of polygons. The tree I used had about 15 000 polygons, which is less then what would be tolerable for this particular scene. Hipoly trees in xfrog scale up to over 200 000 polys, especially when using polyleaves instead of the default opacity mapped ones.

you just export them from 3d Studio as 3ds I think or obj, they will keep their uv coords. After importing in rhino simple reasign the mappings, done!

                          hi again

did u reasign it in vray material texture map or rhino basic texture map?

                          thanks

i dont know, but is not working to me. I imported to rhino in obj, assign textures but the person remains without texture. Am i missing something?

                              thanks andy
