  • new interior try out

Here is a tryout on an old project.

I am not so pleased about the outcome:

    1. walls look grey (RGB=225,225,225)
    2. glass is rather dark (thin glass applied)
    3. i have trouble with reflectance (fresnel). With a light floortexture reflectance shows but when i apply another darker floortexture reflectance is gone. Applying a double reflectance map doesn't help.
    4. I used emitting surfaces in the window openings, because using 'sky' gave bad output.
    5. How do i gain more photorealism.

    settings: QMC+LC:
    -res. 640X480
    - noise treshold 0.01
    - reinhard colour mapping burn 0.5
    - image sampler:subdiv 1 to 50
    - light cache: subdiv 600 / interp.samples 5

    2. glass is rather dark (thin glass applied)
We've found an issue with refractive materials and our current use of 2sided materials. I'm working out the kinks of that at the moment.

to be more specific about the 'thin' glass i used in this render.
      It is a sngle surface.
      I didn't use a refractive layer.
Just a reflective one with fresnel reflection (255,255,255) and transparancy full.

I must say i did experiment with 'double' surfaced glazing with a refraction layer and indeed i never got the expected glass (transparency was gone).

Thanks for looking in to this

IRR.MAP + LC version. Sky and sun on.

I seem to have trouble to control the intensity of the sun.
I can render the sun or completely 'on' (=burnt), or completely 'off' (no direct sun rays visible).
'i would want to see moderate sun rays on the floor)
Also i can't get rid of 'blotches' and some strange black spots (under sofa).

        ?settings of IRRmap:
        min/max rate: -4 -1
        color treshold: 0.2
        normal treshold 0.1
        distance treshold 0.1
        subdiv 90
        samples 20

        ?

add some samples now for the blotches. up to 128 with increased steps to see when your satisfied.

            I set samples at 128.
Still some strange splotches under the bench....

In this version sun is on. I could tune dark en light a bit together wth color correction in the frame buffer but cannot compensate enough.
As i said direct sun is either 'on' or 'off' for the moment and nothing in between (or i must be doing something wrong).

              new interior try out

I tried also using a HDRI map for GI and background.

It seems that objects or spaces behind glass are not affected by this environmental maps. (they don't show brightness and hdri colours).
              part of the glass bug?

[EDIT] at second thought, could it be that the HDRI function is turned of all together in this beta (2) version?

I don't think the HDRI is disabled - could you provide us with this scene?
