This is a bit in the future for me, have 2x dual xeon computers for experimentation, each with dual 18 cores/36 threads. Render slave system working so good so far. But of course, you can buy (with a lot of dollars!) a dual epyc 64 core system with 128 cores and twice as many threads. The question is, is it better to gamble on such a huge cpu heavy system (well it would be ES or QS cpu's from china for me), or rather get a motherboard with a lot of pci-e slots and bang in a lot of gpu's there. What works better for Vray? Maya user so it would be simpler to use Arnold renderer, but as yet not great system for distributed rendering. Well you need an app for that. Am aware a lot of things in Maya (or Max!) still rely on CPU rendering. Any ideas?
