  • TREND - spanish unbiased render engines

    http://fryrender.com/

    is this the sequel?
well it looks pretty good to me, and they seem to have learned a bit from the maxwell customer support...still lot of people doubting this to be any different from the other spanish unbiased renderer...

Yeah, it's already started some commotion over at cgarchitect...Just from what people are saying, it does sound a little too similar to be a coincidence.

On the bottom of page 6 of their PDF is an image that I think is directly taken from Richard Rosenman's absorption tutorial:

(The old, non-flash version that is).

haha I was going to post but then desided to wait cause I dont like to start the flame
But, this is odd to me. On one side it looks like a very good renderer, that which maxwell never have become.
On the other hand it looks a lot like maxwell. A lot. Not to mention their location in Madrid. They seem to be very professional in how they present them selves. It can mean two things:
1 - they are real and mean serious business.
2 - they are completely fake and want to make as much money as possible of of the customers before they dissapear and no one will be able to find them.
If number 1, then NL has some thinking to do, for they have just met real competitor.
          If number 2, watch out
          You deside.

That's odd, I went to check it out, and page 6 is blank now... Hmmm???

                here is another thought:
People have been asking for revised beta engine of maxwell, and now they got it

They posted some test, taken from oold day VRay scene.
                        Nice indeed. Esp. rendertimes.

I just can't seem to trust myself
So what chance does that leave, for anyone else?

Well, tested this scene with VRay, to be sure no one is forgotten
                          A64 3200 2gb
1h5m (65minutes, compared to 50 on dual core for FrY)

I'm not going to compare results! Noway, but I'm telling you I'm still with VRay

This image was computed with Irrmap + DE and LC as secondary. So, I can tell, this is not as fast as I expected (I got tired of remaking textures etc.), but nevertheless still fine. IMHO.

And I like this FrYr. more and more...

i m really still very suspicious about it...
and the rendertimes they supply r they rendered on one machine?
can u share the scene?i d like to run some tests myself!
