Hi guys,
I am very excited to be very near the end of my current project and be in a position to start rendering out some walkthroughs.
I am looking for advice on the resolution I should be rendering out to if I intend to put the footage on to DVD with minimal detail loss. I am also interested in hearing any information about recommendations for resolutions/file formats/codecs if I am going to be just presenting on a laptop.
To my understanding dvd is all 4:3 aspect unless it is widescreen when it is 4:3 with an altered pixel ratio. Is this correct, if so, what is the resolution it should be set to render to.
As far as codecs go I guess that it comes down to divx/xvid in an avi or h.264 in a mov. What is the most common format which can be reliably opened on most computers?
I am also interested in hearing about which video editors are recommended for editing the footage and also what software is recommended for the production of DVD menus etc.
Thanks for all your help!
Marcus.
