Got my 920 on Saturday (that vs the new ones so I get 6 slots rather than 4), with 12gb ram. Running at 4.2ghz like it was nothing.
I tested a reasonably heavy scene last night, and while the new one ripped through it in ~19:37, my old Q6600/4GB was still going after 1hour 21mins.

Cecofuli, can you post another bench with more current vray sp4 and your i7 system. I think the last you posted was for i7 and vray sp2.
Thanks!Dmitry Vinnik

HERE the original ITA thread for VRay 1.5 SP3.
HERE the original ITA thread for VRay 1.5 SP2.
Soon I will start the new thread with SP4 with some i7 920@4.0, @3.8 and my good old DualXeon 5440@3.25Ghz.
In the VRay 1.5 SP3 test I change the bucket size (1/2). This is because with the new Xeon we have a lots more logical CPU, so i prefer reduce the bucket size.
At the benchmark end, some bucket stay in place too much time and the CPU usage was for too low (30-50%) for a lots of seconds.
This is influence also the rendering time from SP2 and SP3 test.Last edited by cecofuli; 22-11-2009, 12:02 PM.

well what I am curious about is I just run a test on my system which is 3 years old and this is the result I got:
CPU: Intel QuadCore Extreme qx6700 2.6Ghz@2.6Ghz (non overclocked)
RAM: 4GB
WinXP32 Bit.
Max 2009 32 bit vray sp3b 32 bit.
Rendertime: 22m 8sec
What I expected was the render time to be atleast double of your i7. If I was to overclock mine to 3.6 (which is what its top under air) I could probably get somewhere around 18 min per frame. What do you think about this?Dmitry Vinnik

Morbid Angel, can you post the final render? Che gamma is equal to my original scene? Because a CPU like the Q6600@3400 is about 29 min. in our thread.

Hey guys
How the hell did this i7920 get so high on the benchmark with Win7 32 bit lol...must be a glitch....

Anyway here is my original render without overclock. I don't really have the time to try other overclocked versions but you can get the idea.

Hi Morbid Angel,
why so dark? Gamma problem? And, this an Intel CPU ... ?

no not a gamma problem. Gamma was off, this one was a sp2 render. I downloaded your sp4a scene and rendering a test now. Surprisingly its 35 min long!Dmitry Vinnik
