  • File per render layer - script

    Heya

    Has any1 got a script or know how to automate process of saving each render layer as MA/MB file ? I have like 30 layers to send to render farm and they all has to be as single mb files :/

    I don't have the script but why do you have to do it that way? why can't you just render -rl command?

        heya

        Interesting script ! will give it a go... as to render layers if I send to deadline scenes I need to have 1 scene per render layer otherways only 1 node will be rendering... atm I'm back to backbuner since its started to render magically lol...

          Are you using Deadline? If so Deadline automatically split the render layers into separate jobs, isn't that enough?

            It crashes with maya 2013. Or it wont render if I submit from maya directly, it render only if I submit via deadline maya file but then it dont split or I mist a button...

            there is no 2013 support atm or I mist a memo :s

              yea I don't think 2013 is supported just yet. Have you try to submit you job directly from Deadline's monitor?

                yes it works directly from deadline with maya 2013 - u have to edid deadline directory files and spefivy maya 2012 patch to 2013 files... I dont get why cant they make it universal nothing changes in maya on this lever of coding as far as I can tell so all maya files should be compatible with deadline but welll... In any case I can send from deadline and render but I dont get render layers per node it just render the scene as it was left set up.... Thats why I need save per render layer because then I can easily set up render region and submit via monitor each job - I guess there will be problem with naming at some point but oh well Ill break that wall when I hit it...

                    They annouced maya 2013 support a while back in beta stage but well nothing on surface yet will need to pm them maybe or just find script for maya... :]

                      any reason to be using maya 2013 anyway? if it creates more hustle and work for you?

                        Better implementation of native IBL. Better univied sampling than 2012, bit more stable than 2012... yea there are some+ from 2012... :/

                        For the moment I'm back to BB, it seems to work.
