Hi Everyone,
We've been toying with the idea of moving away from 3ds max for quite some time now. Has anyone made the switch and lives to tell about it? We're most concerned about $$ in terms of per - rendernode license. Backburner allows us virtually unlimited free nodes to play with as you all know. Just wondering if Maya/C4D/Lightwave etc are the same? We have a fantastic IT guy who could provide support from the Linux side of things. But once again, the support of 3rd party plugins is another issue we need to address. Right now we're all about the bercon maps, rich dirt etc... oh and of course VRAY!
I'm not sure if I'm just whinging and that the grass really isin't greener on the side, but it feels the viewport performance of 3dsmax isn't nearly making use of today's hardware. I very much appreciate any thoughts on the whole systems as a whole. By the way, We do mainly arch/aviation viz, so no super vfx boundaries are really pushed.
Thanks for listening!
Henry.
