  • Duplicate Faces?

    Hey,

I have a strange issue, since updating to Vray 2.2 (it may also be very simple :P). It's the exact same scene as in Vray 2.0 and everything was perfectly fine back then.

I guess it has to do with this error message: // Warning: Some faces of elfeShape@mesh7@subdivGeometry were removed because they were duplicates of other faces. // Haven’t had that message before either. I checked normals, double faces etc and tried disconnecting normal and displacement map. I don't think it's a problem with the model. It's somehow connected to Vray 2.2.

    Help is much appreciated.

    Regards,

    Sebastian

Besides, how do I get posting permission in the other forums?

What's also a little strange about the new build is that once I select OpenCL as a renderer for Vray RT, it renders the same picture over and over again even though I keep changing material attributes (VrayMtl). Once I restart IPR I get a proper Update until I change attributes again... . This seems to be specific to my scene. It updates properly, when i take a new scene with a sphere and a VrayMtl. Is it a known issue that Vray 2.0 scenes do not quite work with Vray 2.2 or is it just me?

For the first issue, is the problem only on one half of the model where it is mirrored?

For forum, please email us to vraymaya@chaosgroup.com with your forum name and we'll sort it out.

For the material update I am not sure. It would help if you can get me more specific reproduction steps and/or a scene and this works fine here.

        Best regards,
        Vlado

          Hey,
Thanks for your time! Yes, it only occures on one side, the other one doesn't seem to be affected. It is a problem of the model, since i tried other models and they didn't have the issue. However I don't know how it is caused, since I can't find duplicate faces and Maya Clean Up and the Zbrush Mesh Check also don't find any problems. I start getting the warning message and the render errors once I check render as subdivison surface. Do you have any ideas what I have done wrong? Did something change with that option in Vray 2.2?

Regarding the OpenCL issue, may this be a driver issue? (updated before updating to vray 2.2 from 27X.XX to 285.62) OpenGL also crashes, when I terminate Maya and I used RT in that session.

If it helps, I could send you the scenes.

          Regards,

          Sebastian

            There are some changes, yes.
