  • Getting a frosted plastic material

    Hey Guys/Girls,

I have spent a couple of hours trying to get a frosted translucent glass material and just cant seem to get it to work. I am looking for something like this OMA project. Let me know if you guys have any ideas.

I think you could probably get a decent effect if you adjust the transparency (not worrying about translucency or fog) and add some gloss to the reflection? I guess it depends on how you are using it. As long as it's not for a detail view, just playing with the transparency and glossiness may be enough.

Take a glass material with reflection and refraction layer only and change the glossiness of both layer to 0.9 - should be looking frozen. For a light general "translucency" effect you could add an emissive layer, set transparency 250 and adjust the intensity to a very light glow effect. This "translucency" material should be fast rendered, if I remember me right.

        Micha_gc,

Im trying out the material right now. I achieved something similar with a frosted glass and some post production. Ill let you know how it turns out.

        Cheers,

I have created a quick tutorial a few weeks ago about working with the reflection and refraction layers. Take a look to check it out. Hope it helps!
