Hi,
I am a long term reader of this forum.
I thought this would be a nice place to ask for some guidance.
I am suddenly involved in a small app preproduction process, and not exactly being from a coder background, i am evaluating some solutions to economically solve the following:
Given an LDR environmental map (in any format, preferably spherical) i am looking to resolve the needed projection or transformation algorithm to get what a camera in the center of the sphere would see -knowing its orientation, FOV and aspect ratio. I am just beginning the research, but i am just not getting to the proper information for now.
That´s why i ask for some pointer on where to look, or for what terminology to look for (english is not my irst language, and i don´t grasp the involved technical vocabulary yet).
My partners developers are initially aiming to work onto some 3d engine (Unity or so), but i think that for the solely requirement that i mentioned earlier, something simpler should do the work. We don´t need shaders or lighting, just the projection part.
Hope to be clear, and thanks in advance for any suggestion.
Best,
T
