  • Applying texture maps to VRayProxy node with a .vrmesh... help!

    Hi everyone,

Hoping you can help me out I'm on a tight production deadline - I have a model from 3DS Max (with VRay mtls) with texture maps (exported from substance painter),so far so good, only, I can't seem to apply my textures onto a .vrmesh of the model (using the vrayproxy node). I can apply textures to an .ABC or .FBX no problem, so why not just go with that? Well final render will be done inside Nuke and I can't for the life of me get a smoothed poly out of 3DS max when I export in .ABC or .FBX... only in .vrmesh.

So basically I've got a pretty model with no tex or an ugly model that's unrenderable with textures.

I guess I'm asking these two things, can you export an .ABC or .FBX that is smoothed? (that seems like the easiest option)
Or am I missing something when it comes to applying bitmap textures to a .vrmesh??

Btw I'm a 2D compositor so am a complete noob at 3d, just trying to get the 3D assembled so I can get on with comp.

    Any help would be great

    Cheers guys

    Peter
