  • Trick: visibility sets per Clipping plane ***

    Hi,

maybe the trick is needed at Rhino only, since it is not possible to set "invisible to camera" based on object properties. Only at material level an "invisible to camera" is available and it's cumbersome to create extra material versions to make a lot of object invisible for some views only.

Often I need to render small spaces with mirrors inside. Using clipping planes doesn't right work since unwanted fill planes are created some times or not all objects should get a cut by a clipping plane. I was very happy as I found the clipping plane include function.

I place the clipping plane behind my scene and enable the "Include" mode. All objects, which I want to set unseen to the camera needs to be selected per "pick objects". I set a name for all object, which should be unseen, like "hide" and during the pick function is running I can use _selname to get this objects picked. The function "ignore viewport state" makes that the V-Ray clipping works also if Rhino doesn't show a clipping at the viewport. Finally, I can easy set all wanted objects unseen by enabling the clipping plane.
