  • Point Cloud Proxy Object Support?

Will there be full support to for V-Ray proxy objects derived from PLY point clouds? I am trying a test scene and getting inconsistent results. One of my point cloud proxy objects is rendering entirely black. The others are rendering as thin black outlines. Any word on this?

(It is worth noting that my GPU driver is behind the recommended version. Unfortunately I am unable to upgrade to the most recent GPU driver right now. Could that be the cause?)

    Thanks!

Are these point clouds represented as triangular meshes ? I can't quite remember how we converted them from ply to vrmesh.
Vantage supports only triangular meshes, no hair or particles, so that could be the reason.

Can you send a scene with a simple example ?

That's most likely not the issue.
We haven't run into any driver related troubles with Vantage (so far).

Thanks for the quick reply. I'm trying to export a new test scene which is small enough to share, but having some trouble getting the .vrscene out. I am now getting the "Vrscenes rendered with V-Ray 5 Standalone will only output files without a preview buffer)" error. The resultant .vrscene file is tiny and showing up as pure white in Chaos Vantage. Not sure what I did differently. I could share the .max file, but the proxies would not be inside it.

That's just a warning I think, it shouldn't affect Vantage.

The proxies (vrmesh files) are not part of the .vrscene file either.
I prefer a 3ds max file actually, just include the .vrmesh files as well and I will relink them if necessary.
