  • MPEG-2 support?

I am wondering if you have planned to add MPEG-2 support in the form of .m2v file format (MPEG-2 Packetized Elementary Stream, video only).

The MPEG-2 situation is... complicated. We don't officially support it, but Pdplayer will open the file if you have the appropriate DirectShow codecs. Unfortunately, the various third-party codecs vary in quality, and the m2v format seems the least well understood.

We can't include built-in MPEG support at this time due to licensing and patent issues with the format.

Pdplayer will use the installed Video for Windows, DirectShow and Quicktime codecs. Officially we don't support any third-party codec, but unofficially, Xvid, Divx and Quicktime (H.264 in particular) should work fine. (Divx seems particularly Pdplayer-friendly.)

Note that Quicktime, Xvid and Divx don't have x64 versions.
