Actually marko i am not whining nor am i crying, as i said i still am a Vray supporter. But from now on i don't want Vray email
regarding Beta's nor early vray plug-in release offers i am no longer interested. i have learned my lesson from this transaction and
besides everyone here is entitled to their opinion regardless of what others think.

Ive not trashed this company, i think Vray is a great product i'm just expressing how disappointed i am.

Now on day 5 still no response from the email i sent vray@chaosgroup.com.

just for the record, I brought autograss also... but luckly I have no complaints....but i I am sure I would of the same if I felt got ripped off...you don't see me giving advice on being an early adoptor in that thread do you ?

again, your opinions may be different then my own but i would hardly compare what's going on with the pricing of RT -> vray 2.0 to the laughing stock of autograss (and for the record, i always knew there would be a majority of people disappointed in getting that pos [piece of software? hah]...)



especially when you'll be getting an update of vrayRT 1.5 shortly, for free as usual.

i am amazed by the amount of whining and crying in a forum supposedly filled with adults...


RT became available after a long and large amount of development went into it...

but that is completely aside the point that:

-who forced you to be an early adopter of RT?
-why didn't you ask for an evaluation copy with a temp license? (the chaosgroup is always willing and incredibly helpful in this regard)
-why didn't you use the demo?

and worst of all:

-why, after purchasing a license and realizing that it isn't for you; didn't you ask for a refund?

it's almost as if you go into clothing stores with your eyes closed and pick up the first shirt you feel. hoping that it's not only in your size but style too!

the chaosgroup has proven themselves to be one of the best assets we have at our disposal; they are active, responsive, capable, and open minded.

if things ever got that bad for me, i'd happily skip a single night of drinking and take the $200 and hand it over to them if and when i found the software was what i needed.




that being said, the vray 2.0 beta just finished downloading!

I work for a larger corporation, so we'll get it eventually. I'm still not happy about it though. RT has never been worth the money in my opinion, and STILL doesn't work properly. 90% of my early crashes are related to RT, if I even choose to use it.
Generally, in my workflow the only use i can find is the very beginning, tweak a few lights previewed by RT (maybe 1 hour of work turned into 30 minutes by RT). Then I can't use RT anymore because the features, if supported at all, won't match the final render.

Is 30 minutes per project worth it? Not in my book.

I work for a very small company but had the same results. I purchased RT 7/2009. The concept of RT is great and we thought it would be a big help to the work flow. I found that the RT renders didn't match the final renders well enough and was only going to be of use for very preliminary lighting setups. After trying RT out for a few projects I gave up on it and decided to wait for the next version.

Still, I wasn't all that upset about purchasing RT, thinking that it would improve in time and paying for an update wouldn't be bad since I already owned RT. Wrong!

I have to say that the VRay 2.0 upgrade pricing for early adopters of RT feels like a slap in the face and that purchasing RT early has turned out to be a waste of time and money.
