  • far attenuation

Whenever I use spotlights, I nearly always use the Far Attenuation controls to control things a little more. Say I have a room where the ceiling height is 3m. If I set the light from the ceiling with a Far attenuation end value of 3.5m so the light just hits the floor, how is the reflected GI light treated? I assume that Vray doesn't just work out the bounces for .5m of that light, in which case the room would be very dark. Instead, I assume that the bounces 'ignore' this far attenuation value and just treat the surface from which the light is reflected as a dim area light with a value akin to how a 1x multiplier light would be 3m from its source when attenuation is taken into account, threfore approx 3/3.5 the original power.

(apologies for my rubbish maths - its been a while!)
    Kind Regards,
    Richard Birket
