Why it is like it is

I woul´d realy like the matte to behave so that I don´t have to render to a black background if I dont whant the gi to light up the matte objects; just to lighten up the shadows from the other lights. As it is now I have to compse it together afterwards and it´s OK but it´s much harder to preview it as you set up the ligts. I don´t know if this is hard to do or if there is some other issues I don´t count. But as I feel I´m repeting my self allot in this forum about this I whould very much like an answer Why it is like it is.
