as i understand it, 3D displacement subdivide each face by the number which is set as "face subdivs".
in the picture here it seems as if the smaller faces reacts differently than the larger ones to the displacement.

does it have something to do with the "face subdivs" and is there a way to solve this?
max displacement is unchecked, and i also tried applying a meshsmooth modifier with no smoothness (helped me before with bounding displaced faces, thought it might help here but it didn't).
