  • Vray IES Producing strange results in certain passes

    Hi Everyone,

Looking for a bit of help with Vray IES. Have been using them for many scenes and they are working fine, but I noticed that they are having a strange effect on certain passes.

I have a simple kitchen cupboard with a wood material and a few vray ies with an ies file loaded.

As we can see the overall rgb render looks fine, you can still see the issue I am talking about, some jagged shadows on the cupboard where the smooth shadow of the IES should be, but it is way more noticeable in the VrayRawLighting render element.

The wood is a a vray material and I have tried a few different ones and they all produce this effect.

Does anyone know what is causing this?

When I apply a default vray material it renders nice and smooth, but when I apply a material with a texture, even when removing all the bump textures it still shows up with a jagged shadow.

It seems like this is something to do with the diffuse texture and vray IES not working properly.

I have played with all vray IES light settings (including loading other IES files) and none of them seem to have an effect on the jagged shadows and as mentioned I have removed all maps in the vray material except the diffuse and it still shows up the same.

    Any help would be appreciated.

    Thanks.
