I am having issues with opacity. The bushes are XFROG and the leaves are using opacity. I have the filter to non and the blur to .001, but the render is coming out white. During the lightcache process they look good. Any clues. Also the big white dot is also being caused by some planes I have the opacity map using a tree image for shadows. What am I doing wrong with opacity?

forget that... all that did is made them black becasue they are in the shadow. I could add an omni light, but is that the correct way to handle that.

This may happen if there are overlapping faces for the leaves (I remember some tree programs, e.g. speedtree, had this issue.) A solution was to increase the secondary rays bias for V-Ray to a small positive value like 0.001.

          Best regards,

                      Bias

                      Then what does this mean?

In the second image below, the Secondary rays bias is set to 0.001, which offsets the start of each ray a little bit along its direction. In effect, this makes V-Ray skip the problemmatic surface overlaps and render the scene correctly:

Also, how do you enable double sided in VRAY? I thought this was only in a standard material.

ok I got it. I had to type in .1 first then add the 2 extra 0's. Strange.

                              Bobby,
                              2 things you can try-
If the leaf maps you are using are tiffs with transparancy, make sure in both the diffuse and opacity slots, the "none (opaque)" radio is ticked within the Alpha source.
And if your using leaf maps that are png format, sometimes ive found that the gamma needs overriding to 2.2 (this is if you are using LWF BTW!!) in the select bitmap image rollout..

Hope this is of some use....
