  • Slow DR Pickup Times

I've built a new machine recently and added to my farm. I'm rendering out a large scene using LC/LC on Low Priority, and the rest of the machines pick-up the still image at about half-way through the rendering.

I am not working from a saved lightcache file.

It seemed like the other machines picked up the scene much faster prior to 1.5.

Is this because the scene is being loaded onto the other computers? Are the other machines by any chance calculating the lightcache independently? Should I work from a saved solution?

I suppose I could run some tests but I'll have to wait till this rendering cancels. I was hoping someone knew the answer to this.

As i understand it, each DR-slave will calculate it's own lightcache before it starts rendering buckets.

So if your lightcache takes long, i'd recommend using a saved lightcache.
    I believe Irr.map is more 'DR-friendly'.

Very strange - I just unchecked:

      'Check for missing files'

The image started rendering right away.

most likely....esp if there ARE missing files as the timeouts are damn high by default.

Is it possible to change this (the timeout time)?

No - no missing files. It just seems to be slowing down the renderings significantly over DR.
