Hey there,
when overriding the FOV of a Max camera (to create a spherical map) that
has Manual Clipping enabled it works only up to 180 Degrees. If the FOV is bigger everything beyond 180 Degrees gets clipped. Up/Down is working (well that is only 180 Degrees heh).
I usually wouldnt need Manual clipping when doing Sphericals, but as this was a camera imported via FBX it was on by default. Took me a while to figure that one :P
