  • custom white balance

Max 2016 and vray 3.30.04 here, just mucking about with different sky/light setups in relation to white balance trying to see how different conditions affect the rendition of colors. For example if the sky is extremely blue (no sun) and the white balance set to the same color, does that render non-blue colors darker or less saturated?

But I stumbled on something now that I can't explain:
Vray sun with override color: RGB: 255, 180, 0
    GI enviroment RGB: 32, 126, 255 at mutliplier 160
render with max physical camera (and new exposure control), whitebalance set to 255,255,255
color pick white balance from the top side of a box that has a 128,128,128 diffuse material
    get the color RGB: 0,529, 0,553, 0,639
render again. And the gray material is not gray? but instead: 233, 233, 255.

I repeated the procedure to be sure. But maybe I'm just repeating my mistake or a wrong assumption?

    Any Idea?
