Windows Search Freeze

When I am running MAX, using V-Ray, V-Ray seems to just freeze with the estimated time and the current time running the same number. The Windows search, task bar, and task manager stop responding. When I kill MAX, Windows comes back to life. It is almost like there is a memory leak or something. Any clues? I can launch MAX again and the rendering will work just fine and the rendering will complete.
