At the moment, to create a simple vray ies spotlight (ie pointing straight down), I go to the top view and *drag* an ies spotlight. Then, I move the light upwards in the z-axis a bit. Then, I align the pivot of the target to the pivot of the light (in the xy axis). Then, I tell the vray ies light not to be targeted.
This is quite a few annoying steps to go through.
