  • VolumeScatterVolume as a Map

    Hi there,

something I´m regularly having problems with working on procedural stuff: I have a mesh with varying density, which is usually not unwrapped, but uses XYZ mapping instead, I put a Vraydisplacement mod on top and now I can decide which is worse...displacement too strong on thin areas, or displacement to weak on thick areas...

So when I first saw the VrayScatterVolume material, I was excited, but then I realised that its, well, a material and not a map. I could probably bake the result, but that would mean I had to unwrap the objects and in most cases I don´t have the time to do that (hence the procedural approach...).

So I wish for a map, that can evaluate the density of a mesh, which I can then plug in a compositemap to control the intensity of vraydisplacement. For example. I´m sure there would be many more possible uses.
Thing is, it should stay independent of UVmapping, similar to VraydistanceTex or VrayDirt and it should be evaluated before any Vraydisplacement Modifiers. If thats possible at all...
Working...
