  • hdri in 2.55

    Hi,

    I would like to use HDRI environment maps (like clouded sky or studio lighting setup). Is there a way to do that in v2.55?
    I tried giving an image map texture on "World" but I can't scale or place it so it has no use.
    I can't seem to find a way to add hdri to lamps either.

    If this is at all possible could you please provide step-by-step instructions.

    I´m still on 2.49 but there you have to put a hemi light in the scene and load the hdri as a texture onto this light. I would think that this is also the way to go in 2.55.

    If I am wrong, someone please correct me.

      I didn't work with Vray in 2.49 but to work with HDRI in 2.55 it's different. I had to search for it too.
      You first need to click on the world buttons, then you click on the texture buttons to apply a texture map to the world. There you need to insert the HDRI file and apply angular map.
      You don't apply the HDRI to the hemi-lamp.
      Set the intensity of the light to zero or very low to see the effect.
      I don't have Blender here at work for the moment.
      I'll post some printscreens this evening.

        unfortunately you can't apply hdri light texture as Lutze pointed out.

        I discovered this method but it returned an error message and didn't render. Too bad...

          Textured lights will be supporter next week.
          You could rotate map using "Horiz rotation", also set up proper Mapping (sphere, mirror-ball etc).

            I tested hdr today; loaded a high quality hdr into the world texture slot and set mapping to angular. The removed all other lights and hit render. However the result shows a lot of blotches. What am I doing wrong?

              Nothing is wrong - just increase and tweak GI settings.
