End of last year, I bought an AMD Radeon R9 380. I tried using it with a few different rendering software including vray, and it just wouldn't work at all. (I ended up returning the card.) It seemed like nothing was fully supporting openCL. Sounds like maybe that's changed a bit over the past year, but still doesn't seem as robust as CUDA.

Yea its very frustrating. Im starting to think about thinking of buying some externla GPU solution. But I guess thats as uncertain to work as well. I cant upgrade the internal GPU.

The OpenCL got working for AMD GPUs with V-Ray 3.30.0X I think .. If you had any troubles, just send the bug reports over. However, V-Ray CUDA support more stuff than V-Ray OpenCL for sure.
