is this a bug or something?

No, I don't think that's a bug. I would disconnect the HDRI from the GI slot. Or maybe reduce the GI intensity by a lot. I usually put my HDRI in a dome light for the light source, you could try that (also try lower intensity there.). Your hdr file may just not be a good one for direct lighting. Probably the reason the prepass looks ok is direct light is not calculated.

            Hope that helps.

it was like trials (many trials) first without Gi and then with Gi (when i was making the preview for the material bigger (material preview)) blender closing after seconds i tried many builds even 11 august build and all is crashing. i start to feel that i'm in the wrong way.

you have to enable the "force color clamping" button in the VFB.
It's the second icon starting from the left in the bottom of the VFB

can you post your image settings? Are you using linear mapping? Here's what my settings look like (I'm using one of the Peter Guthrie skies)

Also - note that the dome rotation sets the image rotation, so you don't need to make any matrix adjustments. (And for the background, you can use object select for the background transformation.)

i make the same settings as yours and use peter guthrie same like yours and it starts to look good but i'm curious about the settings of your color mapping, because i know that you were using vray for sketchup and now they are going to release vray 3.4 for sketchup with many improvements, so from your experience what do you think is worth, vray for blender or sketchup. thanks.

I don't use Vray for SkechUp but if the 3.4 will be released I think it'll be the same as Blender and 3dsmax.

About color mapping options, 3dsmax and Blender it's the same...
If you have strange colors probably you have something else you have to tune in gamma management....

Could you show us the image you have now?
