  • CPU Usage

    Hi,

Recently I noticed V-Ray is not using all cpu power in my computer. Even if "Low thread priority" is off, the CPU usage is sticky in 70% during all the rendering.
Anybody could confirm if cpu usage is working normally for you guys?
I guess this could be a kind of issue/limitation of the motherboard model (which is very old), but I wanted to confirm if buying a new motherboard solve this issue.

    Motherboard: Intel DG31PR

Pretty much all the time 100%, compiling geometry (displacement), calculating light cache/irradiance map, rendering image.

Yeah, 100% for me as well, including DR nodes. Did you test other multithreaded software, maybe run some gaming benchmarks? Good to check if it also happens with other modern software. Looks like that mobo was released 2007 - yeah, that's pretty old

This particular scene is mostly background and there isn't much to throw samples at. V-Ray would go in there, see that there's nothing much to do and move on to the next bucket, but in the meantime this would not utilize the CPU at 100%. It is considered normal for such types of scenes. If, however, you're having the same issue with scenes where the background isn't directly visible from the camera or the backround makes up a small portion of the image, then this would not be normal.

It was an incompatibly issue between Windows 10 and the motherboard.
I’ve upgraded the motherboard and now everything is working nicely.
            Thanks.
