  • [Urgent] Lens effects not applied on Renderfarm ?

    Hi,

I'm running an urgent project on a renderfarm (Ranchcomputing). I have Bloom/Glare in my scenes, but it seems that the lens effects are not applied on the renderfarm renderings.
I unchecked "hardware accelerated" and used "image and render element" as mode. I don't seem to have the lens effects on the picture, and I don't have a "Glare" render element.

Has anybody run into the same issue ?

Any help would be really appreciated ! I will do without Lens effects if cannot resolve the issue, but it's much better with Glare :/

    Hi Oliver,

Can you reproduce this behavior if you render locally or does it happen only when outputting through the renderfarm? If this is also occurring locally, best would be to forward us a scene so we can have a look.
Alternatively, you can also add Lens Effects to Completed rendered sequence with our Standalone Denoiser tool. For further information you can check the following article: https://docs.chaosgroup.com/display/...hedenoisertool

      Hi Nikoleta,

Thanks for the answer. It happens only at the renderfarm. The guys at the farm are investigating.
Locally, it works like a charm, but I don't have 50+ nodes

I will try with the standalone denoiser tool. I wasn't aware about that.

      best,

Errr... I can run the denoiser tool via batch, I see the lens effect applied in the window. It saves a mypicture_denoised_ocl.file, but there are no lens effects in the written files. What am I doing wrong ?
I tried with effectsResults and denoiser elements.

        "C:\Program Files\Chaos Group\V-Ray\Maya 2019 for x64\bin\vdenoise.exe" -inputFile="W:\projets\myproject\images\ANIM\myfile .effectsResult.?? ??.exr" -lensEffectsparams="W:\projets\myproject\glare01.vl e" -useGpu=2

I'm using Vray Next, by the way...

I wonder why I have written that all this is urgent :/
Anyway... I found a solution for my project to be delivered today. But I still like to figure out what's wrong.
          So, to resume:

1- Locally I get flares on my rendered sequences.
2- At the renderfarm, they say it works in Next, but not in Vray5
3- Creating Flare/bloom with vdenoiser, creates the lens effects but doesn't store it to the written files.

I'm still investigating with the renderfarm.

          best,

          Olivier

            New info from the renderfarm:

There is a downward incompatibility regarding the lens effects. If the scene has been created on NEXT, Vray5 will not activate the Lens effects. For the rest there were no other noticeable issues.

As for the Vdenoiser, nobody, so far, is able to store the lens effects created by the GPU. Everyone who tested, could see the GPU create the flare and bloom, but it is not stored in the saved image..... so it's unusable.
