  • Particles inside glass material

    Hi,
I am trying to send a ton of particles through a pipe made out of glass. For some reason, whenever the particles are behind glass of any kind, they disappear entirely. Am I doing something wrong or is it simply not possible to render particles behind glass?

I am using the latest official build (2.20.01).

It is certainly possible; are you sure the particles are visible to reflection/refraction? Also, what kind of particles (points, spheres etc)?

    Best regards,

That's the odd thing, when I open the Render Stats tab on the particle node, it only lets me tick Motion Blur, both Visible in Reflections and Visible in Refraction are greyed out. Opacity works fine, but refraction just renders nothing. I have tried both spheres and points. I have a VrayAttribute for Sphere subdivisons set to 8, although turning that on and off isn't affecting the particles rendering through refraction.

      Here's my maya file: http://dl.dropbox.com/u/297056/Node_Flow.zip

EDIT: Just realized this is a bug in Maya actually. I turned the particle type back to Blobby Surfaces (the default) and then I could suddenly turn on the Visible in Reflections/Refractions options. I then turned it back to Spheres and voila, it worked...
