  • VFB features (save window, 8-bit linear images, options)

    1. VFB always defaults to saving image to root instead of last directory.
    2. VFB save window is not an OS window.
    3. VFB saves 8-bit images in linear space, sRGB/gamma should be baked in. Afaik a linear 1.0 space jpg/png/etc is of no use as the image will never perfectly match a 1.0 exr viewed in 2.2 gamma space, and need to have gamma baked in when saved. EXR/HDR/PSD can be 16/32 bit so linear makes sense. Maybe there is a use for this, but I am not sure what it would be - I guess it's nice for saving out a linear vrayDirt pass, but that seems like an exception to the rule. Thanks,

Maybe the first two of these fall in Autodesk's lap. Saving images from the VFB could benefit from a number of options in terms of both format (compression, etc) and gamma. Maya preferences have an option for OS dialogues, I wish there were a way to do this with the VFB save dialgoue. Working with network locations is difficult and I think the OS dialogue is preferable.
